Carlos Atelier


 

CACERES-SOBREA Carlos March 17th 1923, La Rioja - 16 November 2014, Gif-sur-Yvette.  He took French nationality and has been working in France since 1965.

A geometric abstract painter,  he was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires.  After an intial stay in Paris, during which he frequented the studio of Fernand Leger, he fled the military dictatorship in Argentina and settled in Paris in 1965 where he regularly exhibited at the the "Salon des Réalités Nouvelles" and also at the "Salon de Mai" and "Grands et Jeunes d'aujourd'hui".  After various teaching posts in Paris (at the Paris School of Fine Arts in the teaching and research section on the environment, 1967-1971 at the Paris National School of Architecture, Paris, Belleville, and at the Camondo School 1971-1989), he settled at Gif-sur-Yvette around 1980. 

He has exhibited in Buenos Aires since 1950.  He has since taken part in many collective exhibitions, for example: 1962, Latin American Art at the Paris Modern Art Museum; 1965 Latin American Artists of Paris also at the Paris Modern art Museum; 1968 Art 68, at the château of Ancy-le-France; 1970 Constructivism and Movement at the Maison des  Quatre Vents, Paris; 1982,  Latin America in Paris, at the Grand Palais, Paris; 11 Latin American artists of Paris at the Royo Museum in Colombia; 9 artists of the Latin American Dimension in Paris at the El Retiro Gallery, Buenos, Aires; 1988, El Patio Gallery in Bremen; 1989, Realidades Gallery, Rio de Janeiro; 1990, Painters of the Michael Bremen Gallery, Heidelberg; Métaphore Gallery, Paris; 1990 Art Construit, Paris; 1997 ARTE B.A. - International Contemporary Art Fair, Buenos Aires, Argentina; ARCO 97, International Contemporary Art Fair, Madrid; 1988, Art Construit in Europe, Ceara Museum, Brasil; 1999 Art Paris, Carrousel ,du Louvre; Macia Museum, Contemporary Latin American Art, La Plata, Argentina. 

He exhibited groups of his works in personal exhibitions, amongst others; in 1989 at the "Salle d'Actualité" of the Paris Museum of Decorative Arts; in 1994 at the Château de Belleville at Gif -sur-Yvette; at the Claude Dorval & E. Dalbanes Gallery, Paris, Kuntur Gallery, Amsterdam, 2007, MACLA museum, La Plata, 2008, ENSA, Paris Belleville, 2014.

 

He has created works in an architectural context, in colouring, shapes, ceramic walls, etc. in Paris and its region.
