Caceres-Sobrea states nothing

to leave us

                              to our own free will

he draws his canvases to silence

          neither dumb           nor aphasic

but circumspect

    the silence of a word

that he is careful not to speak.

The work of Carlos Caceres-Sobrea comes wihin the scope and rigour of the geometric abstraction but it brings with it a very personal contribution.

A kind of emotional dimension emanates from his compositions,... free from references and anectodic touches, these paintings are nonetheless works before which one wishes to spend a moment of serene contemplation.

Marc GAILLARD, Art and Achitecture Historian

Caceres-Sobrea's current paintings have become the "ICONS" of our days, in search of a new form of spirituality.  A mysterious aura, which is a source of peacefulness and real richness, radiates from their very contemporary, regiourous and sensitive plastic art.

Henri MALVAUX, former director of the school of Fine Arts of Bourges and of Camando School, painter and conferencier

With a remarkable economy of means but also with a rather prodigious mastery of colour, Caceres draws us far beyond the gates, towards abysses from which we risk never to return entirely unscathed.

Pierre KALFON

... he opens ambiguous spaces, constructed on multiple preparatory drawings and devlops the most subtle gradations.  a kind of serenity, an absolute calm so close to Caceres who is reserved and discreet, reigns over this series of paintings which has been produced during the last two years.

Philippe CARTERON - Le Nouvel Observateur

... his works call for calm contemplation and the kind of receptivity inspired by the immensity of the American landscape.   His latest exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in paris will leave the mark of the Rio de la Plata School (Argentina-Uruguay) by its important contribution to international art.

François LEPOT - El Clarin - Buenos Aires

The consecration of the Argentinean artist (1934) who spent such a long time teaching has finally arrived.  Patiently worked, his canvases of refined graded shades create a spectacular space behind their severe cunningly repeated bands.

Gaston DIEHL - Art News

Caceres and myself share the same South American origins, the love for friendship and a modern attitude.  caceres paints space, an abstract space framed by linear bands held together by simple rules.  The figures composed in this way allow him to establish a delation of colour, a subtle gradation which becomes the luminous architecture of his painting.  A beautiful emotion.

His radical and exacting rigour, while surrendering nothing, still leaves room for passion; it is his success and his fortune.  Apollonian, he is also Dionysian.
